Dentistry

Regular dental care has become an increasingly important part of good horse management and we recommend that it is carried out at least once a year often tying in with the annual vaccination.

We are able to sedate horses and ponies for both routine and remedial dental work. This can mean the animal suffers less distress and there is less likelihood of injury to handlers. In cases of horses and ponies who object to having dentistry work done, sedation allows a more thorough job to be carried out. Most horses and ponies tolerate sedation very well with very few side effects.

As well as performing routine dental tooth rasping we have a power tooth rasp which allows us to carry out remedial dental work, including removing overgrowths, tooth hooks and correcting wavy mouths.
