All of our vets are experienced in stud work and artificial insemination.

Artificial Insemination

The advantages of artificial breeding techniques (i.e. chilled/frozen semen) allows mare owners a greater choice of stallions within the UK and the opportunity to import from Europe. Also the mare benefits from being able to stay at home in familiar surroundings. With attention to detail the success rates can be better than those achieved by natural service.

Ultra-Sound

The practice has two Ultrasound Scanners which are used entirely for reproductive work allowing us to scan mares to allow covering by a stallion or artificial insemination at the correct time and also for pregnancy detection in the early stages of the mare being in foal.

Andrew has a specialist qualification in Equine Stud Medicine (Cert EM). With our in-depth knowledge and our dedicated reproductive scanners, you can be sure your mares receive the best attention from pre-conception to post-natal. We can also help and advise with any of the following related breeding issues, and should you be interested in breeding from your mare or stallion, please speak to any of our vets for more information.
