We recommend that all horses should be fully vaccinated against influenza and tetanus.
This involves a primary course and booster vaccination according to the following recommendations:-

Please check with your competition authorities with regard to their own recommended intervals and boosters etc. PLEASE book routine appointments such as vaccination boosters etc well in advance so that deadlines are not missed. Tetanus VaccinationsIf you only wish to vaccinate against Tetanus this involves a primary course of two vaccinations 4-6 weeks apart. Followed by the 1st Booster vaccination at one year and then a Booster vaccination every two years. |

Equine Herpes Virus (EHV) vaccinationsVaccinations for Equine Herpes Virus are also available. This is another virus which can cause respiratory disease, abortion in mares and occasionally in-coordination and paralysis which can be fatal. Horses require two vaccinations a month apart, and a booster injection every six months. Pregnant mares should be vaccinated during the 5th, 7th and 9th months of pregnancy to aid in the prevention of abortion. |

Rotavirus vaccinationsPregnant mares can also be vaccinated against Rotavirus which is disease causing diarrhoea in foals. Vaccination is given during the 8th, 9th and 10th months of pregnancy. |
